Religious Naturalism

Taking Nature to Heart

Meditation

Meditate - woman 150%Meditation uses mantras, ways of breathing, and other techniques to alter activity in the brain. While particular goals may vary in different traditions, a common theme is to:

calm and focus the mind

reduce harmful habits and suffering

move toward recognizing wisdom.

Meditation is central to the practice of Buddhism, and may be used in various ways in other religious orientations. One Christian form involves contemplative prayer. Mindfulness meditation, and a general attitude of mindfulness, have been discussed as approaches that can fit well with religious naturalism.
